STARMED only trains for the use of the STARMED products. The information provided during STARMED training is not intended to substitute formal medical training or certification. STARMED is in no way responsible for surgical credentialing or training in surgical procedure or technique. The training programs provided by STARMED are not intended as a replacement for hospital credentialing requirements. All curriculum described are subject to change depending on available resources, as well as the needs of the course participants.

Some of the training described may be provided by organizations or entities other than STARMED, and STARMED is not responsible for the content of these programs.

STARMED does not offer training on procedures or techniques, nor does it take responsibility for proctoring services provided by the independent proctors. The hospital/surgeon purchasing the proctoring services as part of their training have independently determined this to be part of their credentialing requirement; STARMED’s role is merely to coordinate between the hospital/surgeon and the proctor. The proctors and the hospital/surgeon are always free to negotiate with each other directly.

Indications:

The VIVA combo RF System is intended for use in percutaneous and intraoperative coagulation and ablation of tissue. The VIVA combo RF generator, star RF Electrodes, and VIVA RF Electrodes are indicated for ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation of cytologically-confirmed benign thyroid nodules in adults that are symptomatic, cosmetically concerning, and/or autonomously functioning. Autonomously functioning nodules are indicated if nodule volume is < 10 mL.
