STARmed Thyroid RFA
Clinical Evidence

STARmed technology is the most used device by Key Opinion Leaders around the world to develop procedure standards and establish clinical evidence through peer-reviewed clinical studies. More than 94 articles have been published with STARmed technology to prove the efficacy of this novel treatment in terms of volume reduction rate, symptom relief, cosmetic score, and quality of life.

Thyroid RFA Practice Guidelines

The use of ultrasound-guided ablation procedures to treat both benign and malignant thyroid conditions is gaining increasing interest. More and more international interdisciplinary evidence-based statements with a primary focus on radiofrequency ablation have been developed.

2022 An international multidisciplinary consensus statement: Radiofrequency ablation and related ultrasound-guided ablation technologies for the treatment of benign and malignant thyroid disease

American Head and Neck Society Endocrine Surgery Section with the Asia Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery, Associazione Medici Endocrinologi, British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons, European Thyroid Association, Italian Society of Endocrine Surgery Units, Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology, Latin American Thyroid Society, and Thyroid Nodules Therapies Association

2017 Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation Guideline: Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology

Thermal ablation using radiofrequency is a new, minimally invasive modality employed as an alternative to surgery in patients with benign thyroid nodules and recurrent thyroid cancers. The Task Force Committee of the Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology (KSThR) developed recommendations for the optimal use of radiofrequency ablation for thyroid tumors in 2012. As new meaningful evidences have accumulated, KSThR decided to revise the guidelines. The revised guideline is based on a comprehensive analysis of the current literature and expert consensus.

An interdisciplinary statement from the following professional associations: Austrian Thyroid Association (ÖSDG), Austrian Society for Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (OGNMB), Austrian Society for Endocrinology and Metabolism (ÖGES), Surgical EndocrinologyWorking Group (ACE) of the Austrian Surgical Society (OEGCH)

2020 European Thyroid Association Clinical Practice Guideline for the Use of Imaging-Guided Ablation in Benign Thyroid Nodules

To provide the best scientific evidence available and a consensus expert opinion regarding the use of RFA of the thyroid in clinical practice.

2023 General Principles for the Safe Performance, Training, and Adoption of Ablation Techniques for Benign Thyroid Nodules: An American Thyroid Association Statement

The primary goal of this interdisciplinary consensus statement is to provide a framework for the safe adoption and implementation of ablation technologies for benign thyroid nodules.
